2What are your legislative priorities, if elected?

  1. Renewable energy policy and implementation of 100% renewable energy by year 2030
  1. Expanding the building of Rail: New track, more trains, more often to more places.  I support dedicated passenger track for VRE, trains during the day and on the weekends.  Direct rail service Williamsburg to Charlottesville.  Fredericksburg rail ticket sales at the train station, renovated with public restrooms.  Eight rail-car Metro-trains.  Double tracking Virginia Avenue tunnel.  Dedicated rail tunnel under the Potomac River.  MagLev Rail Nationwide.  Trains as fast as planes.
  1. I support eliminating the illegal sale of arms to foreign governments. In 2016, the foreign military sales is expected to reach $40Billion, down from $46billion in 2015.  Of approximately $35Billion in foreign aid each year, 17% of it is used  for military arms.
  1. Availability of free higher education.
  1. Reducing the Federal debt, now at $17.8trillion.

3What will you do about economic challenges facing families such as minimum wage, equal pay, paid family leave, affordable housing and child care?

As a guiding principle,  I support empowering families to determine where they work and where they live.  We can do that by providing upward mobility through improved access to higher education, expanded public rail transit, creating new jobs in solar, wind and geothermal energy, cleaner air and cleaner water for a healthier population.  Freedom to live where the housing is affordable with accessibility to child care nearby.  Freedom from Wars for Oil which enslave families to pay in both blood and sweat for the War, for private transportation vehicles and expensive, air and water-polluting fossil fuels.  Families are faced with a National Debt that is now over $17.8 Trillion.  We are paying for over 800 military bases overseas and foreign assistance of $35 billion going to over 140 countries.  This War-based economy is the legacy of the two larger parties.  The positive solution is an energy policy based on renewable energy.  A safer, affordable community for families,  not Wars for oil and political or personal gain.

4What will you do to ensure that post high school education is available for all?

I support legislation to redirect federal education funding from grants and federal loans to fund free higher education thereby enabling Virginians to retrain for US based industries.

I support light rail feeder systems that can provide Virginia’s students with safe and affordable access to colleges and universities.

I support Federal legislation that makes rail mass transit the highest priority for transportation funding.

5Do you support any change to the federal campaign finance laws and, if so, what specific changes(s) do you support?

I support a code of ethics for candidates and elected officials, with penalties enforceable under the law.

I support enacting conflict of interest legislation to prevent our elected officials —and any foundation with which they are associated — from accepting, in any way, donations from foreign citizens or foreign governments.

Additionally, I support requiring all cable companies to offer public access channels as part of their basic cable pricing.  Currently viewers must pay a premium price to view public access channels.

Lastly, I support standardizing ballot access requirements for federal offices.

6What federal legislation, if any, would you support to reduce gun violence?

Gun violence is not a major issue in communities with full employment, upward mobility — communities where families control their own destiny.  I support legislation that creates jobs.  Lots of jobs:

  1. I support legislation that implements a national security energy policy requiring 100% renewable energy by year 2030! 100% renewable energy in the US would virtually eliminate US National Security interests in fossil fuel abroad and eliminate the need for War for Oil!  Moving to 100% renewable energy would create new jobs and keep the economy vibrant.   Virginia already has more jobs in renewable energy that in Coal.
  1. I support legislation to remove the financial barrier at the Federal level which prevent the building of Rail. Rail will create new jobs.  Rail is a positive solution to grow our economy.  Rail is safer:  33,000 Americans are killed each and every year on our roadways; 340,000 are injured or maimed every year.  State-of the art rail can be electrically powered and fossil fueled rail uses energy so much more efficiently an vehicle would need to get 300 miles to the gallon to be as efficient!   For every dollar invested, $25.00 are returned to the economy.  Cleaner air and cleaner water means a healthier population and decreased health care costs.

7What solution do you propose for the undocumented immigrants who already reside in the US?

The two larger parties have turned a blind eye to the 11-12 million undocumented immigrants for about 15 years now.  The majority of these immigrants are now an integral part of our workforce and law-abiding.  They pay taxes and social security, yet because they lack citizenship are not privy to many of the protections the law affords.  Health concerns dictate that we know who is entering our country and the condition of their health.  However, removing 11 million, 15-year experienced immigrant workers from our workforce would undoubtedly place additional stress on an already fragile economic recovery.   I support a humane path to citizenship for those already here and a solution which funds enforcement of immigration laws and/or requires each State to supplement Federal immigration law with US Constitutionally compatible state statutes for enforcement, to correct the loopholes that the two larger parties have allowed to over-burden local law enforcement agencies.

8What will you do to achieve government accountability and to restore citizens' trust in our government?

I would support a code of ethics for elected officials.

I support an investigation into the illegal sale of arms to foreign governments.  And I support enacting conflict of interest legislation to prevent our elected officials from accepting, in any way, donations from foreign citizens or foreign governments.

Additionally, I support requiring all cable companies to offer public access channels as part of their basic cable pricing.  Currently viewers must pay a premium price to view public access channels.

9What legislation, if any would you support to lessen the economic effect that decreased federal spending, especially on defense, is likely to have on many parts of Virginia

  1. 10The US Supreme Court invalidated Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act that contained the formula that determined if proposed voting laws from certain jurisdictions are subject to preclearance. The Court invited Congress to legislate a new formula based on current conditions. What legislation would you propose or support to protect voting rights in every jurisdiction?

I support federal legislation requiring every US Citizen to register to vote upon reaching the age of 18.

11Unemployment and jobs still rank as top concerns among voters in midterm election polls. What actions would you support to increase availability of permanent, well-paying jobs, especially for young adults?
